A wide range of training opportunities

According to a comparative study carried out by the magazine “L’Étudiant” for the 2018-2019 academic year, Angers ranks first in France for the quality of its student life. Angers has a current student population of approximately 40,000.

The capital of Anjou offers numerous higher education programmes attracting prospective students. UCO alone hosts one in four international students.

    A pleasant living environment

Almost half of the local population is under 30, making Angers a youthful and dynamic city! Situated less than 1h30 from Paris and 2 hours from the Roissy-Charles de Gaulle airport by TGV, the city boasts many amenities, parks, cultural centres and restaurants to meet everybody’s needs.

A welcome service is provided at the beginning of each academic year

Each year, the city of Angers offers students a “welcome package” that is available at the “J, Angers connecté jeunesse” (the local youth centre). This package helps students to get acquainted with the city and includes 60 vouchers worth 270 €: concert tickets, and free admission to a number of sporting, cultural and other events.

Also the “J, Angers connecté jeunesse” organizes events open to all universities and colleges such as the “Aqua Challenge”. The aim is to build a team spirit among students through the participation to recreational and unusual sporting events.

    A rich cultural life

Angers has 9 public libraries, 8 performance and exhibition venues, 24 cinemas, 3 theatres, 5 museums (in addition to the Château itself) and 34 city or community leisure centres. Students can also enjoy numerous events and festivals organized every year such as Les Accroche-Cœurs (urban street arts), fête de la musique (World music day) and Tempo Rives (summer music festival), Festival Premiers Plans and Festival d’Anjou, (cinema and drama festivals)…

A host of parks and gardens

For several years now, Angers has advocated an ecology-first urban policy. The city has some 1,000 hectares of natural areas including the Lac de Maine, Île Saint-Aubin and Saint Nicolas and Balzac parks.

    Sports facilities for all

Angers has 60 gymnasiums and sports halls, 6 swimming pools including the Aqua Vita aquatic centre, a leisure park at the Lac de Maine, as well as a skating rink. The many facilities make it possible to meet all user needs but also to host national sporting events (football, ice hockey, women's basketball, etc.).
